FieldPapers
FieldPapers is a useful method of creating a printable atlas for the area you want to survey. It is a way to avoid copyrighted and dear Ordnance Survey maps which cannot be used with OpenStreetMap for copyright reasons.
It allows you to keep a paper record for your own archive, and you can also print it off again, once you are finished adding the names to OSM.
JOSM
JOSM is a powerful editor for adding information to OpenStreetMap. It takes a bit of getting used to, but once you have tried it, you’re likely not to go back to the iD editor that OSM provides.
